Meet Kayce Munyeneh
In July of 2021, after being an established municipality for ninety years, Cheverly embraced Kayce Munyeneh as the first African American Mayor for the Town of Cheverly.
Kayce Munyeneh matriculated from Columbia College with a bachelor’s in political science and Georgetown University with a Master’s in Leadership (Organizational Development). Kayce Munyeneh was in the Honors College and graduated cum laude, cum honore, garnering membership in academic honor societies such as Alpha Lambda Delta and Golden Key International Honor Society.

Through the business park association I’ve initiated, we’re streamlining the appearance of businesses, fostering accountability in the industrial zone, and setting high standards for new developments. Identify and develop alternative revenue streams in Cheverly, such as tourism, entertainment, and business taxes, to lessen the burden on homeowners and reduce reliance on property taxes.

Prioritize cost-saving measures and ensure the efficient use of town funds to maintain fiscal responsibility and avoid unnecessary tax increases for residents.

Champion greater use of the Cheverly Metro by promoting it as a key transit hub and encouraging local businesses to provide incentives that supplement Metro use for their employees and customers. Advocate for enhanced bus routes and improved Metro services to better connect Cheverly residents to the region.

Invest in the maintenance and upgrading of roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient travel throughout Cheverly.
Bike and Pedestrian Paths
Expand and maintain bike lanes and pedestrian pathways to promote alternative modes of transportation. Increase sidewalks to create a safer, more walkable town for pedestrians. Work on initiatives like bringing Capital Bikeshare to Cheverly and advancing bike trail connections, including efforts to link Cheverly to the Bladensburg Waterfront.
